What Is Open Studio?
Open Studio Hours are available for current and previous students of Flan’s Glass. If you do not have any stained glass experience, please take a Beginner class first!
Students are only authorized to use the tools that they learned in their class. For example, Beginner 1 students may use soldering irons in Open Studio, Beginner 2 students may use soldering irons, grinders, glass cutters, etc.
What Does Open Studio Include?
Open Studio Hours include the use of hand tools (grinders, pliers, soldering irons, glass cutters) and chemicals. You will be required to buy or provide your own materials (glass, solder, came, etc.).
Can I get help during Open Studio?
Flan will not be available for technical questions or demonstration. If you need any support in your process, consider booking a 1-1 Private Session with Flan or taking additional classes.
Can I use the kiln during Open Studio?
We have a 14" glass kiln that is available for rent. The cost is $25/firing. You may provide your own schedule or you can use ours (full fuse, tack fuse, contour fuse, or slump). Our slumping molds are also available for rent for an additional $10/mold. We offer a 7 day turn-around for firings. Please notify us when you arrive at the studio for Open Studio Hours if you intend to leave projects to be fired. Kiln paper will be available for purchase and is not included in the cost of the kiln.
Can I leave my supplies at Flan’s Glass?
No, attendees will not be permitted to leave their materials or projects at Flan’s Glass. We don’t have enough storage :)
What if I arrive late for my slot?
Open Studio Hour reservations will begin at the designated time, regardless of when you arrive. We do not allow for any transfer or extension of time for Open Studio Hours.
